Shibuya Sky
Perched 230 meters above one of the world’s busiest intersections, Shibuya Sky offers a 360-degree open-air observation deck that makes you feel like you’re floating above Tokyo. Unlike enclosed observation decks, the rooftop here is completely open to the sky — wind in your hair, nothing between you and the sprawling cityscape.
The experience begins with an escalator ride through a futuristic tunnel of lights and sound, building anticipation as you ascend. When you step onto the rooftop, the sheer scale of Tokyo hits you all at once. On clear days, Mount Fuji appears on the western horizon, while Tokyo Tower and the Skytree frame the eastern skyline.
The deck is designed for photography, with net-style barriers that virtually disappear in photos. Lie down on the central hammock area and watch clouds drift overhead, or time your visit for sunset when the city transforms from a concrete maze into an ocean of lights.
There’s also an indoor observation floor with an augmented reality experience and a stylish bar where you can enjoy cocktails with the view. Sunset tickets are the most popular, so book online at least a few days ahead.
